Utilizing simple, succinct design and minimal forms, Masahi Ifuji translates the beauty of stillness through his wood works. Ifuji's wooden shaker boxes have gained high praise throughout Japan.
Ifuji has been making these beautiful interpretations of the Shaker Box since 2005.  First, the plywood is cut to the thickness of 2mm, then soaked in hot water and dried for two days in a rounded shape. The pointed belt is made of natural dyes and meticulously cut. All this is handcrafted by Masahi Ifuji himself.
Ifuji seeks perfection by carefully upholding the aesthetic form and practicality in the boxes explaining, "You can not use a framework like prototype due to the natural habit and variations of the wood. Every object is made by hand and therefore bears a shape that is slightly different from others."
