The iconic three shade system of the PH series of lighting fixtures was created in 1925/1926 by Poul Henningsen for an exhibition in Paris. The designer was determined to produce glare free lighting that was directed where it was needed most while creating soft shadows. This is the first lamp to have been created using the scientific model of the logarithmic spiral as a basis for light distribution. In 1955 Barba Corsini renovated the loft space within Antonio Gaudi's famous building "La Pedrera" in Barcelona, transforming it from a simple laundry room and storage area into 13 modern duplex apartments. Corsini used a series of parabolic arcs to create individual rooms and give an illusion of space and height. To reinforce the modernist style of the rooms, Corsini decorated the apartments with furniture and lighting that he designed himself, including the perforated metal lighting line know as the Pedrera series.
