The Akademia Chair was designed by Wesley Walters and Salla Luhtasela as part of Walters’ thesis for Aalto University. The Akademia Chair is a study in the blending of different styles and techniques including those of the Shaker, traditional Japanese, and Finnish. The asymmetrical placement of the bottom rungs combines with the swooping of the seat and solid back for a soft but modern elegance.
