Designed by Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien for B&B Italia. The fiberglass and leather element designs a wing that embraces the armchair, sustaining the frame like a sculptural bustier, characterised inside by the inviting softness of the seat and backrest. Behind the apparent simplicity of the design lies an advanced technological process used to make both the padding with different textures of foam and fiberglass, which perfectly follows the curved line of the lounge chair.

Doshi Levien is an internationally acclaimed design studio founded by designers Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien. Nipa grew up in India and studied design at the national institute of design. Jonathan trained in fine cabinet making followed by industrial design. They met at the royal college of art and have been working together for over 10 years in their London studio. Nipa and Jonathan bring together many worlds in their work. Nipa’s approach is rooted in her plural upbringing and astute eye for visual culture. Jonathan’s approach is rooted in industrial precision, combined with the sensuality of a makers hand and deep understanding of materials. Working across disciplines and industries, Doshi Levien's work celebrates the hybrid and explores the coming together of cultures, technology, industrial design and fine craftsmanship. They have created work for industry leaders Moroso, Kvadrat, B&B Italia, Cappellini, Camper, Swarovski, Galerie Kreo, museums and cultural institutions. In 2008 Nipa and Jonathan were awarded the prestigious future legends of design by the cooper Hewitt national museum of design in New York. They have been invited to be keynote speakers and lectured internationally, been on important design juries and have taught at the royal college of art. Their work is part of the permanent collection at Moma, cooper Hewitt national museum of design and important private collections. In 2012, they were the guest of honour at Imm cologne, debuting the ‘das haus’ project. In 2013, nipa and Jonathan were invited to curate and design a major exhibition on everyday Indian objects by grand hornu images in Belgium.
