The hugely evocative shade on the M68 lamp immortalizes the silhouette of a woman’s shoulders. It is an aluminum re-edition of the famous methacrylate pop lamp from the 1960s – also by Miguel Milá – and it is now available in lively red or matte white, as well as in polished aluminum.

Since the shade is opaque, its bell-shape cross section gives it a large inside surface to diffuse the light. The electrical cable runs from the top middle area of the shade along with a tiny metal cylinder that links the shade and the steel wire that holds it aloft. In short, M68 is the friendliest way of lighting a large table.

The Ronde Pendant is Oliver Schick's first product for Gubi. The bell-shaped piece has reference to the traditional pendant lamp and the heyday of 1970s lightning design; however, in a modern interpretation.

A unique detail is the opening on the top with an overhanging collar that reminds of a jar such as a vase or an amphora. The mainly downwards directed light from conventional pendant lamps does in this design also spread out of the spout-like opening and casts a smooth light gradient at the wire and ceiling. The hand-turned aluminum lamp shade with an ultra-matte lacquer almost makes it look as if it was made of ceramics.

Ronde is in several languages the word for round, circular or rotating but it is also the flat blank used for metal spinning technique, which is rotating around a molded core and shaped to a 3-dimensional body.

Hector 2 Pendant

The iconic three shade system of the PH series of lighting fixtures was created in 1925/1926 by Poul Henningsen for an exhibition in Paris. The designer was determined to produce glare free lighting that was directed where it was needed most while creating soft shadows. The three shade system creates an even distribution of light as each shade reduces the light equally due to their distance from the light source. This is the first lamp to have been created using the scientific model of the logarithmic spiral as a basis for light distribution. Bau is a sculptural hanging lamp designed by Vibeke Fonnesberg Schmidt, who has combined composition and geometric shapes in a unique and creative design. Bau is a decorative lamp that suits both minimalistic interiors and more daring houses. The design is based on interlocking geometric circles, sticking out in all directions. Bau has an immediate pattern that is broken up by the discs' sizes and off-centre linkages, making the lamp living and organic in its expression. Vibeke Fonnesberg Schmidt explains: "Decoration does not need to be restricted to objects you hang on the wall, but can also form an integral part of more functional objects, such as a table or a lamp. This creates new and exciting opportunities in furnishing. When you move your position in relation to Bau, the tight geometric lines are broken. The sort of experience I want people to have is to see the Bau lamp and wonder what it looks like from the other side. It must appeal to peoples' sense of curiosity."
