The daybed can be used together with the other Conic modules or as a fantastic stand along piece inviting to take a break. With its width of 140cm it offers great space for two adults. It comes with all-weather cushions that allow rain water to drain through the cushion. The best result is achieved when the cushions are put in vertical position. However, they will also drain when in normal position, but it will be slower. Conic daybed is designed to fit in and stand out in many types of surroundings. The design is contemporary yet comfortable and cosy. The taupe colors will bland in with many styles and depending on choice of side tables, coffee tables and scatter cushions, one can bring it to the more inviting white color tones or a more fresh looking style with the aqua color available in our scatter cushion assortment. Conic daybed fits well with the On-the-move side tables as the height of both the large and small version fits well the sitting height of the daybed. In 2011 he combined those two loves by creating The Inheritance Collection. The collection was the result of an exploration of how furniture is constructed, and then a desire to distill the process down to the barest bones. Likening the process of furniture construction to the way the human body is constructed, the frame, belts, and cushions became the bones, muscles, and skin of each piece.

Equally as impressive as the chair's legendary diamond form is the design, based as it is on a highly complex process in which the steel wire is hand drawn and welded.

Harry Bertoia (March 10, 1915 - November 6, 1978), was an Italian-born American artist, sound art sculptor, and modern furniture designer. At the age of 15, he traveled from Italy to Detroit to visit his older brother, however he chose to stay and enrolled in Cass Technical High School, where he studied art and design and learned the art of handmade jewelrymaking. In 1938 he attended the Art School of the Detroit Society of Arts and Crafts, now known as the College for Creative Studies. The following year in 1937 he received a scholarship to study at the Cranbrook Academy of Art where he encountered Walter Gropius and Edmund N. Bacon for the first time.
Opening his own metal workshop in 1939, he taught jewelry design and metal work. Later, as the war effort made metal a rare and very expensive commodity he began to focus his efforts on jewelry making. Later in 1943, he married Brigitta Valentiner, and moved to California to work at the Molded Plywood Division of the Evans Product Company. He worked for them until the war ended in September 1945.
In 1950, he moved to Pennsylvania, to establish a studio, and to work with Hans and Florence Knoll. (Florence was also a Cranbrook Graduate). During this period he designed five wire pieces that became known as the Bertoia Collection for Knoll. Among them the famous "Diamond chair" a fluid, sculptural form made from a molded lattice work of welded steel.
In Bertoia"s own words,"If you look at these chairs, they are mainly made of air, like sculpture. Space passes right through them."

Hans Brattrud designed the Scandia range in 1957 as a school project. At that time, however, he was not able to manufacture the chairs properly.
In 1958, Brattrud saw laminated wooden products for the first time on a fair in Germany and understood that this was the right method for industrializing his Scandia design. High voltage laminating was in it's infancy, but he convinced a factory in Norway, Hove Møbler, to buy equipment for wood laminating. They then began manufacturing the Scandia range in 1961.
They were manufactured in Norway and distributed all over the world until the early 1970`s.
Today they are sold at auctions and vintage shops all over the world and have become a true Scandinavian classic.
Hans had his own design office in Oslo from 1958 until 1963 and developed many national and international projects. Working on one of these projects made him interested in prefabricating houses. After this, his primary focus was to develop designs for prefabricating houses and other architectural patents. Today the Scandia chair is manufactured exclusively by the Norwegian company, Fjordfiesta, with approval of Hans Brattrud.
